Issue an MCP Token

An MCP token is used by your LLM client to authenticate against the CrowdTime MCP server. Each token is bounded to your wallet.

Providers (like Strike Finance for trading) are paired separately via the Permissions screen. Once paired, every token you've issued or will issue picks up the pairing automatically.

You can have multiple tokens at the same time and revoke any of them independently.

Prerequisites

Issuing the token

  1. From the home page, click Issue token.
  2. Give the token a meaningful label. Helpful when managing several at once.
  3. Click Issue token. Your wallet will prompt you for a signature.
  4. The modal will display this only once:
    • the bearer token (sk_…),
    • the MCP endpoint URL, and
    • a ready-to-paste config snippet.

Save the token now

The raw token is only shown to you on this screen once. CrowdTime stores an irreversible hash of it — there is no recovery path. Store it safely before closing the modal.

Pair a provider (Optional)

If you plan to trade, head to Permissions on the home page next. Skip this if you only want research and market-data tools.

Managing tokens

The home page lists every token you have ever issued from this wallet, plus its status and last-seen time.

You can revoke each token independently (requires wallet confirmation). Any LLM client still configured with that token will start getting 401s on the next request.

Rotate your tokens

You should rotate your tokens on a frequent basis. If you cannot remember the last time you rotated a token, it's probably worthwhile doing so.
